New Moon Solar Eclipse in Scorpio: Rebirth

BY SHERENE SCHOSTAK OCTOBER 31, 2013 11:03 AM EST
On November 3, a new Moon solar eclipse will occur in the passionate waters of Scorpio. This lunar event ties back to themes from last April's eclipse, and is right on the heels of the fourth Uranus-Pluto (exact) square.

Our hearts are being split open -- one way or another. We're learning the value of loyalty and devotion. Everything is shifting at a rate our psyches and bodies can barely contain. No wonder everyone is feeling beyond exhausted, weary and dead. We're all coming out of some sort of chrysalis. Themes of passion, death, rebirth, power, jealousy, transformation, taxes, debt, secrets, shadow and seduction abound.

There is something incredibly magnetic and hypnotic about the current Scorpio planetary immersion. At the time of this new Moon eclipse, we have the Sun, Moon, Mercury (still retrograde), Saturn and the North Node all pushing into our own shadowy depths. Scorpio always brings a do-or-die, all-or-nothing energy to the mix, so it’s best not to half-ass anything right now.

If you're heart and soul cannot commit all the way, step to the sidelines. We're being asked what makes us burn? Where do we blaze? What sets us on fire? What would we die for? There's such a deep level of potential renewal going on at the moment that it should be easy -- if not mandatory -- to let go.
In fact, this is one of the gifts of Scorpio: the beauty of release. What are you clinging to and why? Why cling to something (or someone) that no longer serves your highest? If there's no hope of transforming to the next level, better to relinquish the grip. Prepare for the rebirth!

In our Absence is Presence
Finding light in our darkness,
In our despair, hope.

After two years of rediscovering myself, my work, my life, I am finally comfortable putting it out there again.  It has been a journey, nonetheless, and I am feeling energized about the future.  Learning how to own my creativity has been the hardest part for me, always evolving, not sure what to coin "MY STYLE".  Patterns, shapes, sizes, colors, themes, so many variables with ceramics.  Here are just a few snippets of what I have been working on the past two years...

This technique is called Mishima, which is essentially done by etching the surface of greenware body and applying an underglaze.  Once the underglaze has dried, you wipe it off with a damp sponge exposing only the carved surface.  While I really like the end result, it is very tedious work and room for error on the artwork is minimal.

Which led me to the next technique, Sgraffito.  This process is done by scratching thru the underglaze to expose the white stoneware, allowing more freedom of the pen.  Really enjoy this process, very cathartic and expressive for me.

Wow...Its been over a Year!!

Ok...back to the grind!  Its been over a year since my last post, and  what a year it has been!!  I quit my job, got married, and moved across town.  I was a nervous wreck these past six months, but I'm ready to get back to my old self!!  Moving a pottery studio is no small feat, let alone getting the new space ready. As we all know, this past winter was one for the records, so everything was on hold until just recently.  The new space is quite spacious, hence, the rubbish inside was considerable!!!  Previously an old wood-working studio, this space had not been opened in 20 years or more...Power wash, bleach spray, bug bombs, kilz mildew paint job, window clean, and just plain aesthetic makeover with lots of elbow grease got the job done.  All i need now is proper 240v hookup, and a day-dreaming window installation for proper ventilation.  Stay tuned. Wingard Pottery back in action!

Long Term Influences

One of my favorite astro sites has free access to all of your transits every thursday...I think I should pay attention to this one!
www.astro.com

Heightened intuition ***
Valid during many months: At this time in your life you are likely to change your objectives in a way that your friends may see as hopelessly idealistic and impractical, but to you it seems the only way to give your life real meaning. The chances are that both you and your friends are right to some extent, so your task now is to strike a balance between your spiritual and your material goals. No way of life will be good for you unless you can make it work in the real world somehow, although right now you may not be very concerned with the real world. Often this influence signifies a new interest in spiritual, metaphysical and occult subjects. You have a great need for deep spiritual understanding, and you may turn to religion, probably a mystical sect that emphasizes direct experience of the divine, rather than an orthodox church. The most positive effect of this influence is that it teaches you that you must get your ego out of the way before you can do anything good with it. That is, you have to learn to act without selfishness, to flow along with events as they happen without having a stake in a particular outcome. If you can do this, you will gain a great deal of wisdom from this influence without losing anything. Some persons experience psychic ability under this influence, and there is evidence that most people have some psychic ability. However, you should not expect to necessarily experience anything more than heightened intuition, which can easily be destroyed by too much reliance on your rational intellect. In fact, one positive truth that you may learn under this influence is that even at best the rational intellect is limited and cannot deal with every aspect of life. You will learn this through your own intuitive faculties telling you, if you let them, things that you could never possibly know through the rational mind.

Daily Horoscope...I like this transit

Positive thinking
This is an excellent time for making plans for the future and creating organizational systems, as well as for all other intellectual and mental efforts. However, there is a tendency to avoid really difficult mental or intellectual problems, taking the easy way out instead. But if you can create the proper sense of discipline, you should be able to overcome these negative effects and make this a day of very creative mental activity. This influence opens up and sharpens your mind so that you see, even if subliminally, all the possibilities inherent in a situation. This enables you to turn it to your best advantage. Also this influence gives you a well-founded feeling of optimism, which in turn creates the well-known "power of positive thinking."
